Plamen Press is proud to announce that People and Trees: A Trilogy
by acclaimed Azerbaijani writer Akram Aylisi, translated by Katherine E. Young, and published by Plamen Press, has been named a finalist for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Developement (EBRD) Literature Prize. 
The EBRD Literature Prize honors outsanding translated literature from diverse regions of the world and celebrates both authors and translators who bring vital international voices to English language readers. The finalists for the EBRD Literature Prize were selected from a wide international field of submissions, highlighting works that foster cultural understanding through literature in translation.
This recognition is deeply meaningful to us as a small, independent press based in Washington, DC. It is an honor to bring literature by courageous writers such as Aylisli to readers around the world — writers who have risked their standing in society to advocate for a better understanding of our shared existence. We are profoundly grateful to the EBRD prize jury for acknowleding this remarkable book.
